MSD Recital 2025: LEGENDS​

Drumroll please..... Maria's School of Dance is proud to present this year's recital, LEGENDS!
Here you can find important information regarding the recital for your family.

Recitals

Show #1: Saturday, May 31st at 3:00pm
Show #2: Sunday, June 1st at 3:00pm
Where: Ambridge Area High School - 901 Duss Ave, Ambridge, PA 15003
Come dressed in your first costume. Drop off students at the parent check-in by 2:15pm. Auditorium doors opens at 2:30pm. Photo/video IS NOT allowed!

Dress rehearsals

Show #1: Friday, May 30th - Arrive at 4:30pm, start at 5:00pm
​Show #2: Saturday, May 31st - Arrive at 9:30am, start at 10:00am

Come dressed in your first costume. Parents will be changing their own child during dress rehearsals. Photo/video IS allowed!

Parents with children in the following classes will be assigned to help during the Recital in which you don't purchase tickets. You will gain priority seating through early ticket sales:

​Studio Picture Week: is March 16 - 20. There will be no classes this week. Sign up for individual photo slots at the front desk! Each slot includes 3 poses in the same costume. These individual slots can be used for sibling/cousin photos as well! Your first individual photo slot is $25, and each additional is $20. With each slot, you will get access to 1 digital photo download. You pay our photographer directly in person with her order form. 
Group photo: Each student will be in their class's group photo in the program! This fee of $20 will be charged to your account in March, and goes toward the posing session, your group photo digital download, and program printing. Hip Hop and Acro classes will not have a group photo, but you can still take an individual photo in a Hip Hop costume! Group photo times were sent out in our February and March newsletters.

Program Ads

Family and friends have the opportunity to purchase a program photo ad for any student(s)! In the ad you can write a brief message to go along with the photo(s) of your choice taken by our photographer. Keep in mind all pages are in black and white.
​When are ads due: Tuesday, April 22nd! 
  • Full page ad: $250 (1-3 photos, 4-20 sentences, may have a business card/sponsorship)
  • Half page ad: $125 (1-2 photos, 2-8 sentences, may have a business card/sponsorship)
  • 1/4th page ad: $70  (1 photo, 1-4 sentences)
  • 1/9th page ad: $50 (1 photo, 1-2 sentences)
How to purchase a program ad:
Step 1: Go to your Parent Portal > click "Store" (on the left) > Click which size ad you would like to purchase
Step 2: Select the number of images if purchasing a Full and Half page ad
Step 3: In "item notes," Write the name(s) of the student(s) in the ad, then write the message for the ad. Please include who the message is from (ex. Love, Mom, Dad and sis). It is easier to write this out first in a document and then copy into the box!
Step 4: Add to Cart, and Check Out. Click "Make Secure Payment" (convenience fees apply), or "Bill to my account". If you bill to your account, you have 7 days to provide cash/check.
Step 5: Once you receive your images from the photographer, fill out this Google Form to tell us which image(s) from Sarenae Photography you would like in the ad. You can do this step later on.

How to buy tickets: Tickets are sold online through your Studio Pro parent portal.
Your account must have a $0 balance to purchase tickets.

When tickets go on sale:
  • Thursday, May 15th @ 9am - 9pm: Our graduating seniors
  • Friday, May 16th @ 9am - 9pm: Recital Helpers
  • Monday, May 19th @ 9am - Tuesday, May 20th @ 9pm: All remaining families

Ticket price: Tickets are $14-$18 based on their location in the theater, plus convenience fees (3.05% + $1.30)

*If your family has siblings in opposite shows, or a student has 1 routine in the other show, we will email you directly about your ticket instructions.
*Children under the age of 2 do not need a seat if they are contained on a lap, and not obstructing the audience view.

Recital video

Our videographer shares an online link for each recital video. Through the link you can download your routines! Because the link can easily be shared, their price is $25 for each family at the studio as opposed to individual orders. This will be charged to your account in April and due May 1st. 

Tights and shoes

  • All students should have their pink tights for ballet, and tan tights for tap/jazz/contemporary
  • All students should have pink ballet shoes, tan tap shoes, and tan jazz shoes with the exception of...
    • Melody 1: black tap shoes, no jazz shoes (footless tan tights)
    • Melody 2: black tap shoes, pointe shoes, turning shoes for jazz (footless tan tights)
    • Ensemble: black tap shoes, pointe shoes, turning shoes for jazz (footless tan tights)

Recital packing list

These can be put in a hanging bag with names on everything!
  • All Costumes - with safety pins attached if your costume requires them
  • All Shoes (tap, ballet, jazz etc.), and any tap shoe accessories
  • Hair pieces and ways to fasten (bobby pins)
  • Tan tights (tap, jazz, contemporary) and pink tights (ballet, pointe). Bring any extra pairs if you have  them.
Other:
  • Water bottle with your name on it (please have a tight closing lid!)
  • Hairspray, gel, moose,
  • Make-up (for touch ups if you need)
  • Make-up wipes
  • Extra bobby pins
  • Safety pins
  • Deodorant
  • Change of clothes for drive home
Recital Helpers should also have:
  • Band-aids
  • Tissues
  • Extra bobby pins
  • Extra safety Pins

Hair and makeup

Makeup is required so the bright lights on the stage don't wash out your child’s features! All hair should be in a bun. All headpieces go on the child's right side in front of the bun. Only stud earrings allowed.
  • Preschool: A little bit of eye shadow, red/pink blush, and red/pink lipstick will do the trick! Eyeliner and mascara are optional. Hair in a high bun.
  • Elementary:  Eye shadow, eyeliner/mascara, red/pink blush, and red/pink lipstick. Fake eyelashes are optional. Hair in a high bun.
  • Middle School & High School: Darker eye shadow (natural colors), eye liner and mascara, red/pink lipstick, red/pink blush, small fake eyelashes. Foundation, contour, concealer etc are optional, but should match your skin tone. Hair in a low bun with a part.
